    Imperial checklist question

    Hi,

I was thinking about applying to Imperial for Graduate Entry but then looked at the checklist-

"you will have gained over one-hundred hours of hands-on laboratory experience in a field of biomedical or biological science;"

There must be very few courses where that amount of practical work is done right?!

Seems a little unfair as i've done some of that sort of lab work, but definitely won't have done 100 hours! I can tick off everything else on that checklist as well!!!

Think it's worth asking admissions if i'd still be considered?

Unfortunately I think it is the case that most clinical science degree programs do incorporate >100 hours of laboratory experience. All bioscience degree variants (biomed, biochem, microbiology, nutrition etc.) at my university stipulate a minimum 40 hours/year in the lab, so over 3 years, 120 hours (and that is of course without the placement year, which for most people is spent in a laboratory environment). It may be that your degree is not suitable for graduate entry, but absolutely ask Imperial the question.

    Good luck!

    hi,

    Thanks for the reply

I guess Sport and Exercise Sciences is not a conventional science degree hence doesn't fulfill Imperials requirements.
I think I will email them and ask but will probably go with Kings instead now..don't like my chances though :/

in your case you might want to get some research experience, just in case they are stringent abt it.

100h is nothing really if you spend some time doing fulltime lab work (apart from lab classes). Shouldn't be a big problem.
