Who knows how they decide. Your UKCAT scores seem good what was your average? 700?
Maybe its your background or work experience?
    Hey Madduck,

Honestly, my UKCAT was by no means fantastic (unlike yours), so I guess Imperial must thoroughly examine the application as a whole, e.g. PS, ref etc. My background isn't particularly spectacular either but I do have a few years of work and research experience. Maybe that helped in my shortlisting for interview...who knows.

Where are you on your gap year? This must be an agonising time- at least I have the workload of final year to take my mind off things! Be patient- I'm sure your interview will come.
    UCAS 2010:
    Imperial GEP: REJECTED (Post-interview)
    KCL GEP: REJECTED (Pre-interview)
    Warwick GEP: INTERVIEW
    QMUL 5yr: OFFER

Woo, also had mine today. Absolutely exhausting, and also surprisingly short too. Good or bad sign I'm not sure. Also saw the sheets on the table! Not a great performance from me but a stressful situation so could have been worse. Just glad one's down, not keen for waiting until February!

It's funny that you saw a sheet- I also did, although only at a glance, and I think it was mine :s I saw a few numbers written on there, but impossible to get anything from that as I have no idea what they were marking out of. I wonder whether the decision goes with the majority of the panel, or whether the chair has more say?
basically, they were trying to push me to the corner, and then kill me. Plus they don't really appreciate my MB PhD plan. They emphasized on how intense the 4 year course is and how unfeasible (sp?) doing a PhD in between would be- I know, that's why I applied Imperial.

anyway, this one is done. Out of my hand.

The one with the numbers is the one used by each interviewer, i.e. scores for us. The other one I saw was the one with all people's names and next to them, offer/waiting list/reject. It also has the date and time of the interview slot. Out of 6 names, I saw 5 offers and 1 waiting list.

    ...I love my eyesight.

I dont know how the outcome is determined, as interview only plays a part of it. Maybe they are also the panel who looked at our other stuffs? This is the only possibility I can think of.

I am abroad working in USA. it is interesting to experience private healthcare and it gives me something to talk about, should I get to interview
I am a pharmacist and my personal statement and reference were pretty good (I thought).

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I will believe that I will make the final date for interview.

mine took more than 40 mins....

at the beginning the chairlady (which I applied to her lab before for summer work......and turned her down because found something else to do...) said:

you are the last one, so we don't have a time limit.

    and I thought: oh dear.

My kind advice to those going to the interview with high optimism about doing a PhD during the studies: Be prepared, they might want to have some in-deep discussion on that matter.

and in general: They might pick your weakest spot in PS (work experience, or whatever), then keep asking you questions on that- non-stop, one after another, before the student (supposed to be an observer) join it too.

just relax. otherwise things can get really nasty.

FORTY MINS!?!??! That is ridiculously long, I'm sure mine was around 10 minutes, or 15 at most. And they really didn't probe me at all, asked me an academic question, asked me an ethics question, asked me why medicine etc and that was it.

The same with mine- I reckon 15 mins. I don't know whether that's a good sign or not...Maybe the panel were just in the mood for a debate with you Zhang
