Too complicated for the ol' Jacky Martin Was chatting to cathy/dad about it the other day actually, and a legal point came up, and Nik came in going "i've got the green book vol. 2 actually" (turned out to be a civil law bible, kinda like my blackstone-fetching antics...)
.. i digress

I wonder if the same people would be supporting this guy if he were a white upper class male who had been to Eton?
Singh, you seem to have a hatred of doctors. There are always people like that who go on to become doctors, Darzi and Donaldson spring to mind. I would say you need to get this chip off your shoulder before you start medicine. You are going to find a LOT of doctors with similar views to me.

I doubt either of us have done the survey, but let's look at the evidence that is before us, i.e. this forum, i.e. doctors and people that for the most part will be doctors:
People that generally speaking agree with you: You.
People that generally speaking do not: Everyone else.
My case is rested.
(I still think you're pissing around anyway. That or serious need to be on top and for your school to be on top and everything and everyone that is not you or yours to be inferior.)

I note that you did not answer the question about if he had been white. Well?

There are other people on this forum that do not want to see a convicted criminal being a doctor.
When/if you become a medical student I suggest you join:
Doctors.net.uk - by doctors, for doctors
Go to the forum there (remember only doctors and students can join and it has over 150000 members) and you will see the views of the medical profession on a whole host of subjects.
You will also realise how isolated you are going to be at whatever medical school you are going to. Which one is it out of interest?

Where are people drawing the line on what is acceptable? If someone got a caution as a teenager but had been an angel since is that ok? Or are they to be punished forever?
Just interested on people's views. I know a number of people with cautions in various years of medical school, and they've not been in trouble since. Should they be stopped from practising medicine?

i would still be supporting the said person. It doesnt make a difference what class of society the person belongs to, if someone has commited a crime and realises that it is wrong, and has done several things since then to try to compensate for making a mistake then i personally believe that the person should be given a chance at medical school.
this is my own personal opinion though, (and yes i do know that the person was refused as they did not inform Imperial about the issue before)

there is no line.
anyone of us could be druggees, pimps, prostitutes or 'ookers in the course of our lives. no one knows what the future brings to you - but when it does only then might some of you become less judgemental and remember the maccas that you abandoned but who needed you once, now that the tables 'ave turned and its you who needs your maccas.
anyone could end up like that. you, me, the imperial admissions tutor. everyone. as easy as pie.
only experience will teach you that, when you see and there is no line for anyonhe one of us at any time.
