Aab?

I'm hopeful I've made my offer but have this horrible niggling feeling that I could have missed it very narrowly after the disaster that was my C4 exam

Do any current Imperial students know of anyone who has missed their offer narrowly but has still been let in?

sorry to say this but no. that was in my day 3 years ago, and i cant imagine it has become laxed, in fact probably worse. If you miss the grade by 0.1% then it still means you didnt meet the grades. They wont make exceptions just because they dont have any problems filling spaces. They offer about +350 or more places, when there should only be around 280-300 actual students. so they would actually be pleased to get to that target if people dont meet the grades. saying that i am very sure that they wont be glad that you didnt get in. If all those +350 ppl got their grades then they still take them all.

I know thats not great news, but worry about it when you get your results. I think alot of people think they have done worse than they think, and if you have done well at your other modules then that should help.

And it's worth noting at this stage that one should ask for his/her exam paper/s to be remarked just to up the grades e.g. from a high B to a low A grade. Though you'd have to pay. But this has worked for some people!

Oh I don't know moonshine but I was just on about ordinary exam papers being remarked. This query should be addressed to AQA/OCR or your school's exam officer. I don't know how long one would have to wait co'z I haven't done this kind of process yet.

But like agneishd has said, you shouldn't worry about these things until you get your results. Gosh, it's the summer holidays!

emergency remark takes about a week, i had one as it meant the difference betwen getting in and doing biomed. imperial said that they would wait until they had found out about the ppl who had imperial as their insurance before letting me know if they would accept me on the lesser grades, but the remark came back before imperial decided so i never heard whether they would have let me in anyway.

the only thing is if you get the remark done after august 31st and it goes up imperial dont have to make you an offer for that year although they do have to let you in next year. my mark went up 26marks in one paper when i was only short by one btw, so its worth doing if you are short.

Well I did some remarks for my GCSEs. This how they went:

Maths - 3 marks off A*, scored up to 1 mark off
Chemistry - 1 mark off A*, no change (my paper was near perfect but my useless and frequently ill chemistry teacher caused me to fail my coursework, something like 14 I got out of 30 :O )
Modern Greek - 1 mark off A*, no change (my school reorder the script and couldnt understand why I didnt get 100%, so I retaken the damn exam this year)
History - what a surprise, 1 mark off A* - my coursework was at 100% as well.

But guess what? The remark gave me 14 more marks, giving me nearly 95% overall! 13 of those were on 1 single question.

I'd say it's with getting remarks, what's a hundred quid for the safety of your medic career? And if you're poor, get the school to give you a bursary.
