Paddington accommodation

I'm thinking of the paddington halls (wilson house)...does anyone know anything about it?

i lived there in my 1st year and it was amazing! as in had a big community of people and with alot of medics.

it is in a great position because buses and trains all run through edgware road, therefore easy to get home after a night out. edgware road is 24/7 so always good for a student.

there is a libary and small gym round the corner at st marys hospital that you can use. it has a sports hall which means you can play football and basketball almost whenever.

in terms of going to uni, get yourself a cheap bike, and cycle aboput 15mins through hyde park and therefore it is really quick! alternatively if its a nice day lots of people walk in, takes about 30-40 mins. not that bad considering it in hyde park.

i really liked living there and the price was competitive. the bathrooms are shared and the kitchens are too. i found that there are so many bathrooms everywhere that you will never wait for one. also the kitchens are ok. if you dont mind paying lots of money then go to somewhere in south ken.

I don't think it takes 40 mins, if you walk through Hyde park I'm sure i've done it in 25. depends on how fast you walk I guess. The standard is not quite as high as southside and beit but it has a real community feel and the price is cheap.

This is my first choice, because there is an option for a parking permit! How likely is it that I will get it? I really only want to live in this accomadation! What happens come August, will they only offer one place or do they tell you what is availiable and then you choose?

the parking permit you will almost certainly get. i am sure you have to pay for it though. but if you consider parking in london is impossible and the cost is very small.

once you have got your grades. they will send you a pack with the halls you have been allocated. you will just be sent a pack about your accomodation. You wont get to choose, it will already been chosen for you. if you are really unhappy i am sure you can contact them and see if anybody has either declined the accomodation or if they want to swap.

So do you get your accomodation pack right after they receive your exam results and u made the grades or at August? Cuz I already got my grades a few days ago, and made the Imperial offer! Will I have to wait until August, or will they send me all those details soon after they get my results?

I'm kinda worrried that they will only give us 1 of the 5, and i don't have a choice or preference of which one... I preferably need Wilson's house or Pembridge Halls as they are closest to Hammersmith hospital (where the GPEP course is being held 1st year)

i would have thought that everyone would get sent their packs at the same time. basically when ucas show you your results the unis know your results too. so they will start to get packs ready to be sent. they need a bit of time to change things for people who didnt get in etc and you will receive your halls a few weeks (within 1 or 2 weeks) after results of ALevel. i think. i am not sure if i can remember that far back. all i remember is every1 being so excited that you want it now. you just have to wait, they havent forgotten about you.

Wilson house is great. It is part of Marys really.

It is a bit further away from Imperial, but on the plus side there is a good community there.
