haha, i was in fisher hall, yeah it is much cheaper, reason being its substantuilly more "studenty" than every other hall at imperial, considering the likes of beit and southside are 4star hotels over the summer. fisher's great, but the rooms are small (but cheap), there are no en suites, few double rooms and a triple room. has a common room - big tv with sky and a pool table. plus side is that cos its not as nice as the others they dont kick up a fuss if you break something/other drunken stunts (not that that applies to us medical students because the gmc simply wouldnt approve of that kind of behaviour).

id recommend looking at evelyn gardens, theyr not as hotel like but they are cheaper and only 15mins away, so not far, and they have a sainsburys right on their doorstep, which is the sort of thing that you dont factor in when looking about but it is very convenient, especially when the closest supermarket from beit southside etc is about 30mins walk. in terms of looking around theres nothing to stop you going and looking around yourself in your own time if you live locally, bit of an effort otherwise. other thing to look at is bus links, some of the halls are really difficult to get around from ie picadilly courts.
