I got to use a fire extinguisher and look at all the bugs on my hands under UV light

The docs had their own induction day but some of them still seemed as thick as two short planks when they started and one even threw a hissy fit when she saw how much paper work there is (though in fairness she's actually quite nice).

Just so that no one is misled by our resident nurse:

well of course, becos induction is for all the staff, not a specialised professional induction day.
Is complete rubbish. Doctors have their own induction day, and there are some specific things to doctors as well as the usual rubbish.

Gonna answer MY post that actually made the full argument, that Nadia only brought in partially? That your criteria for good doctoring were high intelligence and entrance grades and not the other factors? That you haven't proved at all that Oxbridge etc can give high interpersonal/practical skills?

To be honest, Oxbridge haven't got teaching hospitals, and all the research in the world cannot make up for that in actual real-life practical medicine.

Someone so intelligent should be able to look at the evidence for themselves - that being a doctor is not just about the skill with a pen and book
Lol, Cambridge student Vs Oxford Student.

@Gizmo: What university are you attending. Is it St.George?

The undergraduate MBBS/MBChB is only the beginning of your career in medicine. Sure, Oxbridge/UCL/GKT/Imperial graduates have the initial advantage (not really for the F1 app though) but you still have postgraduate research/degrees to help level the playing field. Let's not forget that medicine is a career in which you are always learning, so as long as you are on top of your game you'll be fine.

Remember, diligence and hard work is what sets people apart.

From your various posts on the forum, I've gotten the impression that you're asian, live in London and don't go to either Imperial/UCL.

Lol, who thought starting a topic about Imperial or UCL would cause such chaos.

Over the course of this thread we've gone from...

Imperial better than UCL
UCL better than Imperial
University doesn't matter
Yes it does
No it doesn't
You're a socialist..
Nursing is a monkey degree
Irish J.Docs are useless
Not all Irish J.Docs are uselss
Nurses were better twenty years ago.
Fillipino can be spelt as Phillipino
Oxbridge is awesome and you're not
I hate Gizmo
A skit about WW II, politics and history.
Back to, Nursing not needing a degree. (oh and something about diploma vs Nursing degree)

And I just read up to page 17. lol

I very much doubt Gizmo is at any medical school. If you read his posts you will see he lacks any understanding into medicine, and suffers from the classic signs that the minority of nurses with a bad attitude do. I would caution you against being misled by this person.

Hey gimperial...you are basically bullying Gizmo! In about every other post you repeat that he is not at med school (for which you don't even have proof) and use that as a means to disqualify anything he says (worse than the actual accusation, in my opinion...it's an easy way to avoid having to listen to someone since you can straight away tell them that whatever they say, you can't take seriously)...You'll probably say that he attacks you, too, but that's really no excuse!
