i think its obvious, that they have upped the grade requirements for three reasons. a) they dont want to be an insurance choice for the oxbridge rejects, b) People are getting better grades and they want higher standard medical students to reflect that, c) to make sure they get the numbers right when it comes to giveing out offers.

I don't think that it will reduce applicants, unis like Newcastle and Edinburgh offer 3As and they are more competetitive than most of the rest. The only way it will reduce applicants is if for e.g. UCL and Kings still offer AAB for next year but tbh i cant see that lasting very long.

"The minimum entry requirements for this course are as follows: three A levels, including chemistry and/or biology and one science or mathematics subject, and one additional subject at AS level. If either chemistry or biology is offered alone at A level, then the other is required at AS level with at least a grade B."

this is off the site

tis a little confusing :S
i think it means that you actually have to take either bio or chem to A2, but if you only take one, the other must be at a B at AS

i think it also means they want another science/maths at A2, so that may mean you have to keep physics/ take maths

hmm this is confusing

You're right neish.

A2 must be Chem/Bio/RandomScience + One AS

Or Chem/RandomScience/Random + One Bio AS [b]

Or Bio/RandomScience/Random + One Chem AS [b]

Quite stringent...

well i would recommend doing chem and bio
which leaves you having to do maths or physics as another A-level (to A2)

if you don't want to do maths, then do chemistry biology and physics

Yup.

That's the best option, though if you really dont like the a-level sciences note you can do 2 at A2 with 1 at AS, rather than 3 to A2.

No idea what bearing that has on your application though
