To be honest I always assumed AAA was needed for Imperial anyway

Overall it is unlikey to hugely affect applicant numbers, the increase from ABB to AAB a couple of years ago didn't have a massive impact so there is no reason to think that this situation will be any different. The only thing that is likely to change is the grades required for the other London schools as they do tend to copy each other on things like this. The main reason being that they don't want to end up as everyones insurance choice as it is a nightmare in terms of offer numbers etc.

Not necessarily. The proportion of people getting A's is increasing year upon year. I think it stands at about 25% at the moment.

I have looked at the UCAS 2006 institute data, and for medecine Cambridge had ~ 1604 applicants in total (all catagories), and of this they accepted 311. So they had 5.16 APP(2d.p's).
This is very low compared to most other schools.
can u tell me where this data is/ give a link cos i couldnt find it

As Imperial is no longer part of the University of London they can do what they like without affecting the other London medical schools so there will probably be no copying. For the forseeable future at least.

Whether or not it is part of the University of London doesn't matter as far as this is concerned, all that matters is that it is in London, the other unis will have no choice but to put up their grades.

but why would they raise they're grade boundarie in the first place, wouldn't it be because they've got too many applicants?
