Hey FTA, i got a rejection letter from IC today too! I knew straight away from the size of the envelope  I don't think they would reject anyone for doing artsy subjects, otherwise they would've specified in their entrance requirements 3 Science A-levels. Incidentally, apart from Bio and Chem, i do Fine Art, German and i did English Lit/Lang last year. One would think that their being a specialist science college would mean that they had a preference for students with more science subjects at A-level; on the other hand, one of the reasons i applied was because an IC student i know told me they were giving preference to applicants with a broader range of A-levels because they wanted to change their image of being an institution of male anoraks and science swots (a sweeping generalisation and down right false portrayal, I’m sure!). I’ve been very tempted to phone and ask precisely why they’d thought it was okay to string me along so far only to cruelly crush my hopes at the end – but that’s just me being melodramatic! I’m not too fussed, though I would be quite peed-off if I were offer-less.

well i prefer UCL to imp but it was kinda annoying b rejected anyway.. neway i did call em up in the summer n ask them if art was ok to do, and they said yes. but then again, they do get a hella lotta applicants so i guess wen it comes down to art vs say physics, theyd prolly go 4 the physics. i was thinking of phoning too, but i prolly wont. so have u n e other unis to hear from? im still waiting for kings and barts. i really want to get into kings so i'll b gutted if i get rejected... and as everyday passes that becomes more likely a prospect

FTA

T'would be a lie if i were to say the prospect of studying in South Ken didn't really appeal to me, but nevermind! You have an offer from UCL -- so do i! I also have an offer from GKT, having been rejected by Oxford. Good luck with King's and Bart's!

I take it King's is your first choice (fingers crossed on getting in)? I really do not know, King's is a single 10-15mins train journey away, and whilst i do plan on living out for the first year, i know someone who studies at UCL and she's really having an excellent time there. I'm not really feeling the idea of all the biomedical science and medicine students being concentrated at London Bridge, although i like the feeling and appearance of the King's campus at London Bridge better; it has a real open and friendly atmosphere - something not immediately apparent at UCL. UCL has a better selection of SSMs (i'd like to do BSL and continue with my art - possibly at the Slade School!) but King's lets its students do non-science intercalated degrees.. so it's a really tough call. At the moment i'm inclined to prefer UCL, but i think i'll know for sure once i've been to the GKT post-offer open day.

Good luck!

Bill
