Would ABC at A level be accepted instead of BBB?
Also, would the biology A level requirement ever be waived? It seems a bit pointless given that its a requirement at degree, and makes life difficult for those of us with arts A levels who took a foundation year to switch to biology. I was considering doing a chemistry A level to get up to speed anyway, but i really don't want to take biology!

I'm led to believe that there is likely to be a degree of common sense applied to admissions on this course.
In this specific case if you could please email your exact situation to graduate.medicine@imperial.ac.uk we can process your question with feedback from the Open Day we've just held.

I am predicted to obtain a 2i in BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences with Molecular Biology. I have the following GCSE/A/AS Level results:
A LEVEL - ICT (A), BIOLOGY (B), CHEMISTRY (C)
AS LEVEL - MUSIC (b)
GCSE - 4 x A* and 6 x A grades.
I really wish to apply for the 6 year MBBS/BSc course however the A Level grades stated are BBB. Will the above grades stand equivelant to the BBB requirements, or should I forget about applying? Ive been very keen on imperial, as I applied as a school leaver in 2005 and got an offer of AABb, and unfortunately missed out on the conditions of the offer - The fact is I got an offer at the time and I think that this is encouragement enough for me to re-apply surely?
Any information you can provide me with will be much appreciated as I tried emailing admitmed@imper.... quite a few weeks ago with no reply.
Thanks.

With a predicted 2:1, most of the med schools dont look at A levels. i have a BBB in A levels and i'm predicted to achieve a 2:1 and clinical sciences (BSc) and I am applying as a graduate..
the best thing to do is to ring the places that u are interested in. I am not applying to london as I am scared to apply to highly suscribed med schools. (not that there is any not overly-suscribed med school) wen i applied after A levels i got rejected straight away or the interviews that I got, I cudn attend them becoz of immitigatin circumstances...liverpool had plainly refused to re-arrange my interview date
I cant tell you about imperial but i think on the whole you shud be okay with an upper second in your degree2008 entry application:
Hull york: Unsuccessful
Leeds: Unsuccessful
WARWICK: Unsuccessful
SOUTHAMPTON: Unsuccessful
ITS SO SOOO OVER NOW

I have one question...will there be preferential treatment given to applicants with a first compared to a 2i?? I'm very keen to study medicine on this new GEP at Imperial, but I want to make sure I have a fighting chance you see...

an upper second is normally the minimum requirement, obviously candidates with a 1st will be preferred but i wudn worry abt it too much, im considerin applyin for Imprerial GEP, not too sure yet though
2008 entry application:

A levels will definitely be observed as a minimum. People will not necessarily be required to have taken them at the same time, so it might be worth re-taking one if that is all that you are missing. Having a C in Biology or Chemistry A level would severely hamper your application.
2.1 will be perfectly acceptable if coupled with a strong general application (UKCAT score, A levels, work experience, references, interview).
As for 690 on the UKCAT score I cannot help with that yet as we simply do not know where the Bell curve will lie.
As you would expect there have been a large number of queries for this course. There will be an update on the website shortly regarding FAQ's.

Current Imperial Students
Hi "IC Grad Entry"
(And Hi everyone else, I am new to these forums...)
I asked this question by e-mail but didn't get a response. I understand that you may well be overwhelmed by e-mail enquiries, and this question may apply to other students so I am asking it here, too.
How does whether or not one is a current undergraduate at Imperial, due to graduate in summer 2008, affect an application for the 08 entry GEP?
Also, my extended period of work experience was during the time between A-levels and my degree, so a few years ago. Does this negate its value? I plan to obtain some more work experience before the course starts, but this is likely to be intermittant and voluntary, not a consistent period of employment.
Best wishes
ejc
