expenses
hey just wondered how much approximately does it cost to live as a student in london after moving out of south kensington compared with other unis? And especially as a medic at imperial, do you have much time at all to work a job to earn money? Oh and i heard something about nhs paying for something, would that be for clinical years?

Hiya!
I think it varies quite a lot to try and predict expenses, but if you're look at things like rent, it can vary but normally averages £90-120 per week, plus on top you got to add you living costs, going out money, books etc...
In the 5th and 6th years you get an NHS bursary, which can be up to £90 per week - it depends though as it's means tested, plus you get a smaller student loan.
There's definately a lot of time in the first 3 years to work and have a job in addition to studies, although later on it may be more difficult.

i dont fink the OP wants to buy or rent a property just yet in either w8 OR w6, Switchie.
its jus the prices on the link that he/she's after, but perhaps you've got an entirely different interpretation to this thread, you closet landlord property spinning macca.

sounds like you just made my point
if he/she is after prices, it makes sense to look for prices that are relevant to you.
why dont you give him/her the price of buckingham palace as well? that's in london..i'm sure it's a close enough estimate

i'm not talking about sw6 - that's my point. sw6 is more expensive than w6, which is where medics tend to live after year 1 in halls.
care to note the original question was:

ok thanks i think i have a rough idea of the rental prices. how about total costs to commute, eat, study, live etc. Is it much more expensive than studying elsewhere? (ie. other places i have applied to..) Thanks a lot.
