What do arrogant Imperial medics (not all of course) have to say about that.

Im glad i accepted at UCL over ICMS, the arrogance of the Medics showing me around the university campus (which is rubbish) on the day of my interview was second to none. They were acting as if ICMS is the be all and end all of Medical schools, Ill think youll find its not, Oxbridge and UCL are far better.
(nb ARWU rankings are based on facts and the THES rankings are not, so it shows which universities are actually better, whereas THES simply shows what a hand full of biased academics think).

Well it sounds like you're being pretty arrogant yourself. Every medic has immense pride in their school, whichever it may be, and thinks that it is the best school for them. It doesn't actually matter what league tables say, what matters is whether you're happy at the school that you chose.

And, while the THES rankings are based opinion, it is the opinion of academics that hold sway to the individual alum who is applying for a research post or whatever, so I wouldn't be so quick to celebrate. A little humility goes a long way.

Yeh your right, a little humility goes a long way, I was wrong to say what I did. nonetheless it does make you proud. I cant wait until I start in september. UCL is ranked amoung the likes of Yale and above american powerhouses like Chicago, Penn, Cornell, Berkeley and MIT. Grads from these universities are poeple who are going to be the leaders of thier respective feilds, so it is a huge complement to UCL to be ranked to highly, because it shows that UCL grads will most likely have the same impact.

I'm not sure I want to be in UCL with someone as cocky as you! I appreciate that you're proud but rivalry should be "friendly" rather than in your face. I'm glad Imperial applicants/students at the moment seem big enough to ignore this. It's a bit embarassing on UCL's behalf.

well said becky and spencer wells. tbh, every one knows you cant really measure up med schools against one another simply becuase they are so different. it dont matter what league tables say-medical school is what you make of it, not what position it is in some table.

Wow! This thread is just too amazing to even respond to. I must just say that it amazes me how this neanderthal 'RFUCSMSRULES', seemingly with an IQ of a vaccum cleaner, managed to get into medicine at UCL, or at any other place for that matter.

Now schoo! Be bitter somewhere else.

PS. Well said Spencer and Becca.

Imperial is number 9 in the world. UCL is somewhat lower down on that list.

You can use league tables however you like..ultimately you're splitting hairs between 2 fine med schools.
