Slight Bias?

Has anyone from cambridge or oxford applied to Imperial?

Practically no-body from our sixth form college in cambridge has got in to IC.....loads have UCL and Kings Offers...some people have Cambridge offers but were rejected at IC......

has this happened to anyone else...

conspiracy theory:

they figure that cos we're from cambridge, that we will have applied there, and that is our first choice. Therefore they don't want to be our second choice....and so were a tinnnny bit more harsh when considering us......lol....just trying to find excuses why we were rejected

well, there is one person from my school, in hertfordshire, that was very surprisingly rejected from imperial, although he has now got offers from ucl, kings and cambridge.

then again, u dont know what these uni's take into account when looking for students, so all i can have is suspicions!

I didn't think they saw the other places you apply to?

I applied to Cam and Imperial 3 years ago and was fortunate enough to receive offers from both, so unless policy has changed, I don't think there is a bias. If anything, I was told that Imperial will try and poach Oxbridge applicants and will offer you nice things like the chance to compete for a scholarship if you put them down as your first choice.

That's when you still put them down in order of choice. We don't do that anymore, but people applying to IC would probably have applied to oxbrdige as well...unless they completely hate the course there.

Hi

We didn't put down our choices in order of preference the year I applied.

Haran - I don't think this will matter as the tour guides are 1st year medics - they aren't on the interview panel. IC can take a couple of weeks to get back to you anyway.
