Realistically, even though popular thought seems to claim otherwise, I think the admissions teams have more important things to do than pursuing an oxbridge vendetta!

If there is an Imperial/Oxbridge issue then it's certainly changed from when I applied (which, granted, was ten years ago and I applied for chemical engineering).

My 'interview' at Imperial was with others who had offers from Cambridge and was more of a friendly chat followed by a civilised lunch (very nice asparagus and smoked salmon quiche as I recall). They basically said "we know you're going to choose Cambridge as your first choice but put us down as your insurance and we'll give you a CCC offer". That way they mopped up some good candidates who missed their grades.

Anyway, could well be very different for medicine but I don't think there's any long-standing, antipathy at an institutional level. Now Nottingham, that was a different story…

Yeah I gotta agree with the rest of you...I'm a natsci @ cambridge applying to imperial as a grad- got a straight rejection w/no interview (even though I'm not even applying to Oxbridge!). Have 5A's at A level and a 1st prediction but they still told me where to go! Oh well, their loss!
