conspiracy theory:

they figure that cos we're from cambridge, that we will have applied there, and that is our first choice. Therefore they don't want to be our second choice....and so were a tinnnny bit more harsh when considering us......lol....just trying to find excuses why we were rejected
hey, im in year 12-.

the same thing pretty much happned in our school with imperial! but those that failed to get cambridge offers soon heard from imperial... suspicious eh  ?

qu'en pensez vous?

what a load of rubbish.
imperial does try to poach oxbridge students, i've seen it happen twice this year alone. one girl with an offer from oxford even got asked "what could we do to make you come here rather than anywhere else?"
if you're good enough you will get an offer, simple as that.

im not sure what exactly ur referring to as rubbish?
i'm saying that from our school's experience
if u;ve been given an oxbridge offer- imperial soon reject u.
if u have been rejected from oxbridge then imperial call u for an interview.

I've had an offer from Cambridge, but haven't heard a thing from Imperial still.

I heard from someone that Imperial told them they'd give them an offer if nobody else did, then the guy got an offer from somebody else and was rejected by Imperial even before he informed them, so maybe they know.

But if that was the case, why haven't they rejected me already with my Cam offer? Hmm

I happen to agree with the theory of Oxbridge offer/Imperial rejection. It has happened to me and people I know.

I'll have to disagree and say that ppl with oxbridge offers from my school have been called to interview and those who haven't been called to interview have been rejected by oxbridge.

my experience last year goes against the general grain - had an offer from Imperial a month before an Oxford interview.. although like Charlotte mentioned, their scholarship-possibility-if-firm-choice was tempting.

so much for uni's not know where else u;ve applied to.. in actual fact they could just call up and pretend to be u and ask ''when is my interview'' or something of the sort and the admins office wud reply with we havent offerend u one yet, or u havent applied to us etc so they cud find out that way

They wouldn't do that, firstly they'd need to make 2 phone calls for every of the 1000 applicants even if they were just checking Oxbridge.

Also, Oxbridge would catch on and stop saying it.

And also, when someone asked 'when's my interview?' after being awarded a place, they'd find out who was doing impersonations and they'd be in trouble.
