Lightbulb Gcse's

Dude I'm so shook, I just got the scariest fright. I read somewhere on the forum that Med school in Birmingham you need at least 5 A*! Is it the same here at Imperial College, Cambridge & Oxford or is it just Birmingham. Can someone please clarify the situation for me regarding GCSE requirment in these three Universities.

Oxbridge applicants tend to have 5+ A*s, but it really depends on what your high school was like as to how much this counts (if you went to an under performing state school where the average is a couple of As/Bs/Cs, and you came out wit 3A*s, then this would look better then getting 10A*s at a top-tier independent school, where its more or less expected for you to do well).

At Imperial's open day, they told us that as long as the GCSE grades are AAABB in English, the sciences and maths, then they're no longer relevant.

Here's the catch though: Only the top percentile of BMAT applicants are considered for interview. According to the admissions tutors at the open day.

So If I get A,A,A,B,B for Maths,English Literature & Reading and Double Science my GCSE won't determine whether I get in the College as in they won't compare my results with other potential candidates if this minimum is achieved?

Omg I checked on the site and only 300 out of 2700 applicants for Imperial College (Medicine) get in! Therefore, I think I need to achieve a lot of A* otherwise I won't even be considered.
