Smile How does Imperial use BMAT?

Hello. What is Imperial looking for? Anything like UCL, which definitely gives interviews to applicants who got score above 19? Do they make a ranking of the total score, and decide whether to give an interview based on that? Or do they look at scores of specfic parts? Anyone got any ideas?
I understand that the way they use the score may not be very clear to us, as this is only their second year to use BMAT as one of their admission criteria. Any post appreciated!! Thank you.

last year they said they had no minimum required score and it seems as if people with low-ish BMATs still managed to get a place.

Great that someone took up this, I was wondering exactly the same thing. I'm SO worried about the BMAT, so I would really like to know how important it is for Imperial. What BMAT score do people that get an offer achieve? Does anyone know?

i don't know how BMAT is used by Imperial. However, last year i got 4.8,5.0 and 6.0 at BMAT (15.8) and i got an interview and an offer.
i do know someone however who did get an interview with over 20 at BMAT but no offer (she got into cambridge though!!!)

Haha er if it helps, I had 8.0/8.0/7.5 last year, and I didn't get an interview at Imperial - though then again I'm an international student, so maybe it works differently?

Going to Cambridge in a month, though. =)

lol it seems as though imperial is in the habit of rejecting wud-be cambridge applicants.....suppose they are fed up with being second place to oxbridge!!

Dear God,

I think I talk for many when I say that I'm awfully tired of these theories of Imperial rejecting Oxbridge aspiring students due to some "inferiority complex". Can't just some people accept that different unis have different "profiles" for their prospective medical students? Maybe we perform differently at different interviews? I am not even sure if Imperial can actually access our UCAS-files to see where we have applied.

If these theories are to be brought up, please do it in threads that are dedicated to the topic in other forums, or rather don't bring it up at all, it's getting rather tiresome. It never seems to surprise me that the persons who discuss this matter often have been rejected from Imperial themselves...Do I sense some bitterness?

Oh, and now to the topic I don't think Imperial cares too much about the BMAT score. Of course, a reasonable score is surely needed, but a distinctly average score will be weighed up considerably by an excellent PS and reference.

Goodluck to anyone who is applying to the BEST medical school of 'em all (don't trust anyone who says something else )
