Honestly guys, you don't want to live in Beit. It's the most expensive hall, there are other halls with as good or better amenities inside the hall that cost less (eg in Evelyn Gardens). Plus there are no decent shops nearby and the Union's on your doorstep (not such fun around exam time).
Really, anywhere else is better.
I lived in Wilson in my first year - it was a bit grotty back then, but I hear it has been refurbed a fair bit since I lived there so on that score it should be better. The area can be a bit dodgy, but I know that people who have lived there since I lived there who loved their time there.
Any questions about halls? Ask me! I've lived in about half of them at one point or another.Last edited by m00ple; 17-06-2006 at 10:55 PM.

I hope its better after the refurbishment. I guess I could tolerate a year there.

wilson is pretty nice and was v friendly in my first year.
having the union at beit was not really a problem when i lived there, but my room didn't face onto the quad (in fact i had a really great view of a brick wall). beit's not very sociable, mostly because the rooms are so nice that people tend to stay in them rather than go to the communal areas to share in the depressive love that results from having a shabby room (e.g. southside, currently being demolished).
don't forget that uni/halls are what you make them - you can't blame a building for you having a bad time!

I was told do not contact the accommodation office at any time. They don't do 'requests', 'queries', or 'checking to see what your status is' apparently. I was told anyone who actually causes them any trouble whatsoever is black listed and is made to live in a hole. I would imagine there's some exaggeration there but hey... is it worth the risk

No accommodation stuff yet
. I got my form in really early aswell. I'm not bitter... honest
Sheero, your GCSE's may just scrape in but I would say it doesn't look great unless you get killer AS grades and predicted grades and have a great application package etc - you clearly have the motivation to do it though (you got your GCSE grades up loads!). You will probs need Bio and Chem, preferably both to A2, or one to AS and Maths or Physics to A2 plus a non-science, although off your GCSE's you may be better with Bio, Chem and Maths all to A2. Hope it works out, and btw I wouldn't post this in the accommodation thread - there are lots of other ICL app threads that people will read if you post there!
