Damn i've already got a Young Person's Railcard. Oh well i suppose i'll get an Oyster Card aswell Otherwise talking of things to bring i'm actually thinking of a portable printer!? Would any current medics disagree with that or would it just not matter?

ALSO i know a good phones deal....PHONES4U...500 mins, 100 texts for £5 a month! SO far nobody has beaten that and its for a Motorola V975 get one and get another free hehe i can already sense the *Hello MOTO*

You know ive already got this phone and its great and all that but i want a Nokia 6380 so if anybody knows of a good contract package for that model let me know.

Also you know the internet connection in the rooms - whats the speed and this is going to sound stupid BUT hey i want to learn SO, do we need to buy a modem or is it plug your computer in and its all up and running

Thanks
xx

for the internet connection in your room in halls, you just have to register your computer to use the halls internet by giving imperial your computer's MAC address (u do this in the first week or two when u get to imperial or u can register for it online before u go - they'll send u a form about it nearer the time)

anyway, after u've done that, all u have to do is bring an internet connection wire with u (or u can buy one when u get there from the imperial shop..they have all of that sort of stuff ) and plug it in

the internet isn't amazingly fast in halls but i found it fine

hope that helps

Apparently you'll need to bring your own pillows and duvet too, not just the covers.

you don't need to bring a toaster or a kettle but sandwich toasters are pretty fun, especially when you try and toast the power cable as well as the sandwich. (yes, that is a true story. yes, it blew the fuse for the entire kitchen. no, i dont recommend trying it)

don't forget plates, bowls and things like that...

as for travel, get a student photocard - it gives you 30% off on tickets lasting 7 days or more. in my first year i lived in beit and most of our time was spent in south ken so it wasn't really worth getting weekly travelcards but if you are further away it probably is (i now buy weekly/monthly ones if i'm going to hammersmith/elsewhere but i can walk to south ken).

Talking Hi!

hey guys - another current imperial student; remember to bring a doorstop for your halls room!!

A little friendly appearance during the first month or so makes it very easy to meet people

I think that a portable printer is a very good idea. I've had to run all about the place to find a printer to print of my essays at the last minute, if you have your own, you don't have to worry.

or even better, get one of those scanner/printer all in one jobbies... and you can photocopy with them! and they're pretty cheap, relatively speaking... http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...863370-4314848 for example.

ps don't worry about essays, you hardly get any (4 in first year - one per term for patient contact and another about communication skills... in second year you submit them electronically and there are only 2 - both on ethics/law - and they're really long questions rather than essays) woo!

Yes, no essays, well not many but I'll say none and I'll feel better. Anyway, I think the student zone has a freshers guide or somehting which lists all you need to bring... just a sec...

I can't find the exact article but with this:

http://www.thestudentzone.com/index.html

You can do it yourself.

Oh, do we need a white coat. Please say no.

Just remembered the other thing I was going to ask. I'll probs be 'down south' on wednesday evenings. Will I miss much as I know that's sports afternoon and there will no doubt be some 'socialising' afterwards?
