i think here we;re assuming they both arrive at the same time..
while we;re on the topic, consider two patients: 1 with terminal leukemia- aged 6, expected to die over the next month- in need of intensive care and another that has just received an organ transplant and is also in need of an intensive care bed- aged 75- although there is only1 bed (we'll again assume they;ve both arrived at the same time).
*the chances of the transplant recipient surviving are v.high.. provided he receives intensive care soon (altercations during the operation or something).
which one gets the bed??

I doubt it actually! I'm sure if you said give the bed to whoever gets signed in first they'll willingly accept that as an answer, as long as you can justify saying it's the only fair way without trying to weigh up the ethics personally, which could mean future decisions over peoples' lives could be based around any possible biasty.

But still, I'm sure they'd still be equally impressed if you could formulate an argument for one of the specific parties.

Whats the answer to the conveyor belt question? My response (just out of the blue) is to let the doctor stand next to him on the conveyor belt?
