Sports at HYMS

It only just dawned on me a few weeks ago that during my interview i asked nothing about the sport setup at HYMS so i was wondering if anyone could help me out now that i have an offer. As a HYMS student are you allowed to use the facilities at Hull and York sites and does that mean i could compete to enter into their teams? If not what kind of sports are featured for HYMS students, do a lot of people join for football teams as well as other sports, thanks very much.

That's a lot of questions.

As a student at both Hull and York Unis, you're entitled to use both gyms. Obviously this incurs a fee, as with most gyms. There are a lot (and ever increasing) of HYMS sports teams - obviously the bigger sports have the biggest teams, i.e. rugby, football, netball. The sports are spread over campuses - for example rugby is based primarily in Hull.
The HYMS teams aren't massively competitive, so if you find they're not what you're looking for, you are entitled to tryout for both York and Hull Uni teams, depending where you're based.
The downside to this is that you have to pay to uni AU and that team - with HYMS team it's a one-off payment to the HYMS SA.
