AS Grades don't appear to be that important, I got AACCE (A Biology, A law, C Chemistry, C Physics and E maths) and i have recived an offer from Hull York and another med school. Like many forward thinking medical schools i think grades are only one part of the selection criteria, basically they just want people who can cope academically with the course and then more importantly they want people who will be good doctor and that is based on the non academic stuff.
You meet the academic requirements, so you have cleared the first herdle. I would speculate that your chances of getting an offer would be the same as someone who is predicted to acheive at least the minimum entry requirements, I doubt acheiving much higher grades is likely to signifcantly enhance your chances. They don't necessary want straight A students, just people who can cope with the course and will be good doctors. really your chances of receiving an offer depend on your personal statement and reference as well as your interview technique.
Hope that helps,
Paul

Hey paul_m,
Your post is kinda reassuring, I have been emailing to HYMS, and they were very helpful, with your post, I'm starting to feel confident enough to say, "hey I can study medicine!"
One thing's true, there's always a brand new day
I'm gonna live today like it's my last day

I think that the HYMS line on this is that AS grades don't matter unless they show that you have improved since GCSE.
And to make you all feel better, my offer for HYMS was confirmed even when I got an A in computing, B in Elit and B in Chemistry, despite the offer saying an A in chemistry!

Hey ppl!
I have to agree with paul_m. At AS level I obtained ABBB (A in sociology, B's in chemistry, biology and maths stats). After my interview at HYMS I got a conditional offer of ABB with having to achieve AB any order, in chemistry and biology and B in socio.
Thankfully I managed to fulfill these conditions and so am off to Hull uni in September!
The best of luck to all applying in 2005! Ino what a tough time it can be, but stay positive and stick with it as it will all be worth it in the end!

30%? for a new med school it isn't half competitive.
