I have already accepted HYMS as my firm choice with an unconditional offer!

Are any of u guys who interviewed at Hull going to see the York Campus on one of the open days? I'm unsure if I should because they don't show u the HYMS facilities as part of the tour and I dont think I'll be living in student accomodation anyway, so is it really worth it?

    xx

Think it will be worth it (unless you miles and miles away), because i think that even if we go Hull we go to York post year 1 and 2 to attend lectures and etc there. I thought post-offer open days look around the med school too :/

You can ignore most of the Hull accommodation prices, as medics are only supposed to go for student houses or Taylor court, as the contracts in the others are too short, and they are quite a way off campus....
    Student Houses (Self-Catered) – 42 Week Contract
    19 Sept 2008 – 10 July 2009 (inclusive) premium large £2864.45 £67.92
    premium medium £2808.40 £66.64
    premium small £2448.50 £58.10
    standard large £2666.80 £63.30
    standard medium £2619.60 £62.15
    small single £2289.20 £54.29
First Semester Exchange Students (132 nights) premium medium £1256.64 £66.64
Second Semester Exhange Students (143 nights) premium medium £1361.36 £66.64
(Fees are based on a premium medium room)

Taylor Court (Self-Catered) – Contract Periods:-
    50 week contract length
    19 Sept 2008 – 4 Sept 2009 (inclusive) single (en-suite) £4226.04 £84.28

    44 week contract length
    19 Sept 2008 - Fri 24 July 2009 (inclusive) single (en-suite) £3720.36 £84.28

I had a premium large room in student houses in my 1st year - which I thought was worth the extra, but its obviously an individual thing!

What's the difference between premium and standard?

And you'd recommend going for a larger room?

Edit: thought of another question. If you live in the student houses, which I intend to if I'm sent to Hull...are you with all medics, or with people from random courses?

You're generally in a house with one other medic, and other courses students - although there are variations on this - some people have lived with several medics, and some (like myself) none!
This said, all the houses are on 2 roads, so you won't be far away from the others!

Premium means that the houses have been refurbed recently - i'm not sure how many standard houses there are left now - so if you wanted to go for the less luxury, budget option I'd try and get in there soon!

Again - a larger room worked for me - I also managed to blag a double but again, if finances are tight all the rooms are adequte!
