Thanks Emily. So approx between 10-15 hrs a weeks ish. Alot less than my previous degree where we had between 28-35hrs of lectures/labs/seminars a week lol. Suppose they need to give that much more time researching for pbl's etc.

To supplement emily's response, clinical placement adds half a day/week in yr 1 and a whole day in year 2.
Year 2 works out to be about 20hrs/wk of true contact time, but this is very spread out so time spent acutally at uni is longer.
My last degree had more contact time, but this degree has more 'learning' time.

I think the prospectus which can be downloaded on the hyms website has details of the 'average' week in phase 1, and gives example timetables and lots of info on teaching methods/ course structure.

Hey just out of curiosity, do HYMS do negative marking in exams?? Also those who have sat the first year exams, how hard/easy did you find them. i know that can be quite a wissy washsy question, but just a general idea of the level of difficultly. A few example exam questions i suppose would clear it up in my own head.

Thankfully none of the exams are negatively marked! Can't really tell you how hard the exams are cos that differs from person to person. As far as I know no-one in my year failed after resits, but I might be wrong about that! The good news is that most of the written ones are multiple choice....

Thanks Fishie, although i do worst on MCQs lol! And Saskia goodluck, of course you won't need it!! And if possible i'd really appreciate it if u could try to remember a few of the essay type questions for me, just so i can compare them with what i already know, regardless how limited that may be lol!
