Why York?
Heya,
I have a major problem, I only have one offer and its from HYMS. Truthfully I was counting on other offers, and HYMS was my bottom choice. But because of the circumstances, I have to consider it! lol I have been to Hull and yeah i know everythin bout its reputation and have read the other threads by people. I know they say that york is borin, hull is rough etc etc. but why is york so boring? is it too small? i have been on many websites and stuff and it seems to me that there are loads of things goin on in york city. the student union also seems pretty well organised! i was wonderin if any york students could help me with understandin wot york is all about! the truth please! thanks everyone

yeah, i really ****ed up my applications...I wasted a couple of choices, but I chose HYMS myself, even tho my careers teacher and everyone was against it! but i thought it would be cool since it was a new medschool! but i didn't think i would get an offer from there! So now im just confuddled on weather York is really as bad as they say it is...thats all.

Hi Gracious,
Congratualtions on your offer.
My best adivce would be to revisit both cities and both universities in order to properly answer your questions. Its a personal decision, don't go by what others say.

You're welcome Gracious, and welcome to the forums.
I'm a 2nd year student at the Hull site, quite a few hyms students post here so please stick around; they can give you an honest opinion on hyms and both cities.

I like York as a city, although I've never lived there I don't find it boring. The campus is quite nice, and HYMS have a fairly new purpose built building.
Hull doesn't deserve its "rough" reputation at all (well, at least, the university area doesn't, and I don't think the city centre's too bad). The Hull campus itself is really nice.
Like Thom, I suggest you visit both cities and have a good look around.John

Mark:- Dr Carter, you seen Dr Weaver?
Carter:- err usually she's everywhere
