Looking forward to meeting up with new friends in York. I've an unconditional offer and I know I'll be in York, 'cos I will be a home student there.
Jane, the admissions tutor, told me that people will be allocated to places within 3 weeks from now.
Have registered for 'facebook', but the site seems in trouble at the moment. Will check it later. It would be nice to see a few faces so I can move on from thinking of you as 'the landscape' or 'The Noodle'.

Hi Mana,
I was told that all students who are going to be living at home during term time with parents or spouse in or near to (within 30 km), York will be allocated there. The general campus allocations have not been made yet. My situation is a bit complicated, so I wrote to Jane Pearce about it. I am not really sure whether this allocation happens automatically if your home address is York OR whether you need to contact admissions and tell them that you are living in York.
The news section of the HYMS website says that the allocations will be done in late May and get to us in June.
Here is a copy of the campus allocation policy from the website:
The only exceptions to the year 1 and 2 random allocation process are:
6.1 Applicants who intend to live at home during term time, provided that their home is within a specified distance of campus (normally 30 miles), can apply to be allocated to the campus nearest to their home. Approval by the HYMS Board of Studies is required for students to live 31 to 45 miles away, and by the University Special Cases Committee to live further than this.
Applicants must understand that they may have to leave the course if they cannot meet the required standards of attendance and performance because of the demands of daily traveling or domestic commitments.
6.2 Applicants resident at the time of their UCAS application in the HYMS catchment area (i.e. whose Local Education Authority is either Humber, N Lincs, NE Lincs, York, Hull, N Yorks or East Riding) may request either to be allocated to the campus nearest their home or to be entered in to the ballot for allocation to either Hull or York.
6.3 In addition a small number of places (normally no more than five) will be reserved on each campus to meet allocation requests by applicants from outside the HYMS catchment area in situations of exceptional and compelling need on social, personal or financial grounds. The Admissions Committee will prioritise the requests according to need.
I would give admissions a bell. The exact wording seems to imply that you need to apply to be allocated to York. If this is the case sooner would be better than later.
Hope this is helpful,
Ju**
