i had mine in december, the first day, but i THINK i can remember them telling us that we found out if we were successful in january, anyone clarify for me? i think it was if u had ur interview in december u found out in jan. and if u had ur interview in jan. u found out in feb ..
realli?
i hd my interveiw in dec n the lady said aomething about finding outin feb sometime, but i could be wrong. hopefully coz i really want to know as its my first choice.
I think I had my interview same day as u wnbemedic (22nd?) and Dr Jane Adam who gave the talk at the end made a point about decisions of offers/rejections (they should really find a nicer way to put it, I think, something along on the lines of "it's not you, it's me") would be sent out end of feb-end of march.
Personally, from reading all past "offer/rejection" threads on this forum for HYMS I think it'll be sooner, and I'm planning on checking UCAS track from early feb onwards. The last of the HYMS interviews during past cycles were much later on in january than this cycle and applicants were notified as soon as 6th feb on UCAS track during last year or year before. This is only my daft opinion though.
On the powerpoint lecture it said that Dec interviews wud hear in Feb and Jan interviews in March. However, I rekon it will be sooner, cs all they have to do is add two numbers and that means they may already know.... (as the last candidates were interviewed today methinks!)
I don't remember there being a difference to when candidates found out if they were interviewed during different months. Her presentation definetly made clear that there was no set date but a window of a month starting the end of feb. But like u said it's just two numbers to add up for 610 candidates, but I suppose they also gotta iron out any discrepancies between the 2 scores of interviewers, should they occur. And that late date is probably a safety net, even if they DO know the decision for the Dec ppl.
Anyway, I reckon HYMS website admission news will update next week to let us know that they're processing scores now, may give us a more accurate time frame?
I asked my interviewers yest, who said everyone would hear by the end of Feb - the students that took us round said that last year people were hearing from early Feb!
yh the website is realli good in the sence its constantly updated and tells u useful info compared to other med schools who dnt tell you anything - *coughs* leeds. lol
feb dnt seem tht far away thinking of it and especially early feb thats like just after exams.
n the powerpoint i remember there being nothing about dec applicants finding out before jan yrk ones.
Ok, thetalkinghorse is right. Just been talking to friend about her jan 10th interview, mine was december 22nd and she said that dec ppl do hear results in feb and jan ppl hear their's in march.
The question that springs to mind is why?
Is it because they're trying to be nice and fair by keeping waiting time between interview and decision the same for both sets of interviewees?
Or because it'll take a minimum of a month or two to sort through 305 scores from each set and rank them and thats the soonest they can let applicants know?
Which also raises the question of are HYMS ranking each set separately and giving half of the offers to ppl from december and the other half to january or are they selecting the best ppl from either set of interviews?
Wow, Im gonna have a lie down before my head explodes from conspiracy theories xx
Must admit that reading "thetalkinghorse is right" made me chuckle! Cheers mycatsmeaow, but it was just in the lecture by a man. Didnt catch his name, so letting the side down. I do know that he was a consultant radiologist.
I was working nights as I work as a health care assistant at the moment, hence why thetalkinghorse is forced to have owl-like tendencies.
Back to finding out.... I wonder whether they send rejctions first or offers..? Also, I'm a graduate... so who comes first... the younger tots or the golden oldies? What theories have you come up with so far then?
Lol, reading it back to myself was a little strange. Ah thetalkinghorse I have my ways, I only remembered that her name was Jane and what she looked like but looked her up on HYMS contact staff and there she was. But yes, you ARE indeed letting the side down :P
Coz I'm really sad and had the time to look through threads from past cycles, an admission staff person told someone from this forum who had called up that notification of decisions are random, not done in batches of offers and then rejections. As for grads or undergrads I dunno, but again going off past cycles, a mixture of both grads and undergrads were informed at same time via track over a period of a couple of weeks with letter seeming to arrive at least a week later.
I too am a grad and felt ancient compared to some of the fresh faces sitting at the same table as me during lunch break on the interview day. And the theories that I refered to were the ones in the post.
Also Vini, this is from the HYMS admission news page:
All our interviews have now been completed with the exception of video-conference interviews for our International applicants.
By the looks of other reapplicants it seems retaking the ukcat can cause your score to jump 50 points. So we should be fine reapplying to warwick next year. It's just annoying we have to wait another...
He apologized but I really should have! So far I've only heard about rejections probably means they are giving out their offers later. Imperial was kind of my first choice because it's very good and...
