Any probs after Hep B jab?
Hi everyone
A couple of my friends said they felt unwell after having their 2nd Hep B jab. How has everyone else been with their course of jabs?
Thanks

I had a fever after each one of mine - and I've had 5. But it's not severe and goes away fairly soon. More worryingly, I have heard rumours about it causing anaemia, and as I am now severely anaemic... but I can't find any concrete evidence for that, so it may be coincedence. They're fine really, don't worry about it. : )

Hi, I've had the first two, and was absolutely fine after both of them, so i guess some people just react different to them. I wouldn't worry about it though, i'm sure you'll be fine!

I've had the whole cycle twice (wasn't immune after the first), and had no ill effects at all.
One would hope that the balance of risks is in favour of having the jabs.

i also seem to remember the jab being linked with MS in the news a few months ago although i dont know how true this is

The first one was fine, second my arm puffed up a lot and was really red and sore, but no fever or anything.
Come to think of it Bex, I went to give blood about a week after the second one (you only have to wait 48 hrs to give blood after the jab, in case anyone's wondering) and I failed their little blood drop anemia test. Probably just coincidence tho.In an age where we have abandoned god, the air guitar remains the only expression of mankind's faith in the unseen

Did they confirm the anaemia? Or have you been to the nurse? You ought to really... I wasn't aware of anaemia until I went to give blood and my GP now wants me to have a bone marrow biopsy if I haven't improved. Trying to avoid it, it seems painful...

Thanks for your replies
Thanks for your feedback, I didn't have any probs with my 1st jab either, so expect that my friends are either strange or just unlucky!
Bex , hope you get your aneamia sorted, doesn't sound much fun.

hi,
after mine my arm felt a bit sore. that was it. everyone will react a bit differently to it and some people's reactions may be more severe.
just a couple of things about the anaemia though - the blood drop test done by the blood donation service is not very accurate - they do require you to have a certain level of iron in order for you to donate. if you have less, is does not mean you are anaemic - that would need to be confirmed by a blood test. at least thats what the nurse told me when i tried to donate blood!
as far as links between hep b and anaemia, i have never come across them. i am sure someone else knows more than me and will ahve read some paper or article. but i wouldn't worry too much about it - it is all fine!
just out of interest, is anyone considering getting mmr jabs or did everyone have them done when they were kids?5th year hyms!
