Anyone want commonwealth halls?

Heya,
Does anyone want to swap their halls for commonwealth halls? I dont care what halls they are as long as they are self catered. I really dont want to have catered for halls.
Thanks

I was in Commonwealth & like you I really didnt want catered halls however it was possibly the best year of uni so far. The social life is really good & I met some great people; medics, other KCL people and also people from other UOL colleges.

The food isnt always amazing but you have microwaves in the pantries & a massive waitrose close by plus the fab Brunswick Centre. We had termly whole hall meals that were so much fun & we always got sooo drunk on the free wine. I don't regret being in commonwealth at all, the commute to Guys was sometimes a pain but then I got to discover a totally different part of London. You're within walking distance to Covent Garden, Leicester Sq etc so getting back from nights out is always cheap.
I know I'm biased but I really think you'd have a great time there. If you wanna ask anything then feel free.

Heya,
Thanks alot for your reply mera, its really helped me make the best of it
I was just wondering if you could tell me what the deal is with the food. I mean, what are the hours for breakfast/lunch/dinner? Do you have to be there at a specific time to get your meals?
Once again, thanks alot

If I remember rightly weekday breakfast was 8-9am, dinner was 6-7pm I think. If you're going to be back late for dinner one night than you can choose to have a late dinner by ticking a sheet in the dining hall. You then go down to a little room in the basement next to the dining hall when you're back and you can pick up ur meal & reheat it in the microwave.
At weekends there was brunch from around 12.00-1pm I think, which is always good when hungover as you don't have to get up early! Dinner was around 6pm again.
There isn't any lunch as such served but during the week you're usually at uni anyway & at the weekend we used to find brunch was enough for us.

At breakfast you could choose from cereals, eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, as much toast as you wanted, juice, yoghurt, fruit.

Dinner was usually 3 different choices of main meal, 1 always veggie, there was then salad, bread rolls, fruit & a dessert. In winter sometimes they had a soup bar too.

Tesco Express near Russell Sq is the best for late night foraging after drunken nights out, its 24hrs & their microwave pizzas & pasta salads really hit the spot at 3am!
