That's how i feel too - a valuable experience and an achievement to have got to the interview stage! I actually quite enjoyed the MMI format. But like other people have said, I think some stations went better than others for me, and the calibre of all the applicants I met was so high that its probably best to focus on the next interview and just see what happens...

Newcastle 5-year - unconditional offer - INSURANCE
Barts 5-year - offer - declined
Kings GPEP - offer for 5-year - declined

I was on the interview panel when they started the MMI format. I have to say that the 'best' applicants did not necessarily do that well on some of the stations, they did well opn the work experience/achievements and then fluffed the ethics type stations, so I'd not write yourselves off. That's the point of the multiple stations, we can all do some of them well.
Some candidates who looked great on paper were pretty shockingly bad too.

Thanks, it's interesting to hear from someone on 'the other side of the desk'! In your experience, were any of the interviewers instructed to be more awkward than others to see how candidates react to a bit of confrontation? Or was that all in my head?

There were no 'awkward' instructions as far as I know, but the questions they are allowed to ask are all written down and you're not allowed to deviate from the script, so it may seem like you're not getting much in the way of direction or feedback but it will be the same for all candidates.

Yeah I found that some of the interviewers were quite good for a little prompt here and there but some just sat back and grinned! Will be the same for all of us though, as you said.

My worst one was station 7 - the guy just sat back and grinned. And by the time I'd waffled my way through an answer, I'd forgotten what the original question was. That was my longest 5mins!!!

the interviewers were too nice to me. compared with my prev. ones. A lot of room for elaboration (on experience, on other matters) without much scrutiny.

Really? Are some of the questions like: "Oh, tell us about (specific detail interviewee just mentioned)?". Because I mentioned one personal experience, and the interviewer REALLY focused on that. I even moved it back on to the original question, and he then went back on that (in my opinion) tangent! It was very relevant and novel towards medicine, but I don't see how it was a predetermined question. I also felt that his interest didn't allow me to answer the ORIGINAL question that well, because almost the entire time was focused on that one experience. Sure, I imagine he took that into account... well, at least I hope he did!
