Heyy Nabbe,
I'm the exact same. especially since everyone hearing from universities at the moment are getting rejected! So i'm agreeing with your 'no news is good news theory'!
I phoned admissions in regard to grads applying to the 5yr course. I was told that they are still going through applications (obviously hehe). They have no specific order, i.e. looking at grad apps after normal undergrads. As for UKCAT, they didn’t tell me anything.
That’s all I could get out of them I’m afraid. (not a very helpful post lol). So it looks like we’re just going to have to sit back, (relax?), wait and let them do their job.*Ding Ding* Time for my second round...

This just gets worse everyday =D So anxious all the time and everytime I check my email, I check track just in case there's a rejection there. Yesterday, my Cambridge rejection FINALLY showed up on track a month after the rejection and my heart jumped to my throat until I realised it wasn't King's. It's not nice being in a position where you're down to 2 choices

Thanks for sharing what you could get out of them. I really hope they consider more than just UKCAT and plain academics, especially since ours aren't bad although they're not top of the pack. I also hope they don't reject people without straight A:s in chem/bio. Or people without a science degree. My god, my chances seem to get just worse and worse =D

I had an interview yesterday for king's - it was more challenging than the others i've been to but not horrible. It takes an hour in total - half hour for the questionnaire and to make notes about the ethical case study and then about half an hour for the interview itself - supposed to find out in 2-3 weeks but not sure how it will be with christmas in between. ah well fingers crossed

Hey
I'm sure your luck might turn around with your other choices. You never know
. I just wished the info was a bit more helpful but meh...
I think they put a lot of focus on work experience as well. As for the A grade in chem/bio they told me that as long as I get a 'B' then I tick the box. So basically it doesn't matter if I get a B or an A... I just need to tick that box to be considered. As for the degree I don’t think they consider some in higher regard than others, otherwise it wouldn’t be fair. Out of curiosity what was your degree in?
Oh and congrats to those with offers. Probably the best Christmas present you could wish for

Hmm... they told me that you need to just pass Chem/Bio at A-levels!
I have a B.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration and next spring also Masters. Majoring in finance and minoring in Business Technology. I know they're probably not biased, but think of a scenario with two otherwise equally qualified candidates with one whose previous degree is in Finance and other in Biochemistry (or smth like that). Who would you naturally give a chance to if you had to pick? =)
What work experience do you have if you don't mind me asking? I've plenty outside health care (bank, clothing store, grocery store, course assistant at university, translator), and within health care I have experience from volunteering since last spring, a summer spent in Bangladesh (my home country) in a hospital and a diagnostic center observing and since September a job in maintenance department of hospitals in Helsinki (food and cleaning basically for patients).
I think I'm going to forget applications for the Christmas holidays. Just relaxing since despite King's contacting me for extra details of my qualifications already several weeks ago, I've heard nothing back so maybe they'll get back to me in 2010.
Congrats everyone with offers or interviews!

Yeah they don't reply very well. I asked to have my interview rearranged, rang them up a couple of weeks ago and they said they hadn't recieved my e-,ail so I e-mailed them again. Then on Monday when they still hadn't replied to me I wasn't getting really worried since my interview was suppose to be this wednesday, I rang them up and they said oh yeah we got your e-mail we just been really busy all weekend and haven't got round to looking at it. I was really mad. I got them to send me an e-mail though confirming that they'd recieved my e-mail otherwise I'm out of an interview.
Hopefully will hear a reply soon.
