Living costs in London
I was wondering what, are the levery day iving costs for a Medical Student in London.
I'm worried that, on top of having to pay tuition fees, things are going to be a bit tight. Any views from current medical students/undergrads at King's?

Hiya Im an undergrad at Kings. I moved to London from Devon and I know first hand the shock at how much living actually costs!
I would say the single most important source of stress is rent. You will be looking at paying £350+ per month. Less if you live further out. I live in halls of residence, and I pay £350 inclusive of bills. Think about this- its £12 per night! (but since I am literally on Guys campus I pay no travel) I wouldnt recommend having a car!
A meal in the canteen at lunch costs £3.50, a cup of coffee costs a quid. A bus journey costs £1.20, tube costs double this. A pint of beer costs £2-4 (depends on where you go!)
Its not cheap, but if you can manage your finances you will be fine. And best of all you get to live in London...
(ps. if anyone contests any of my pricing please say! It's almost 1am and Im knackered!)
Yay! I got a 2.1!!!

Hey just to toss in a question here. Would rent around St. Georges be a bit cheaper as its further out?

Hey!
I know nothing about St Georges but yes, it is probably marginally cheaper.
I know some people who have bikes (not in halls of residence) but they are an obvious target for thieves and vandalism. Even if they are chained up, they will just pull it apart and take the bits they can!

Be cautious about living too far out though. The stress of getting to exams on time with the London transport system being the nightmare it is can get a bit much. Even the toughest most London-hardened student can be reduced to hysterics by being stuck in a broken down underground train on the way to an exam. Walking is the way to go - live within an hours walk of your exam halls.

It probably does apply to most cities but London is a lot bigger and busier than most cities so there is ore problems with the travel, also when you are stuck on the underground in the middle of a tunnel there is not much you can do. Most people don't have trouble with the transport though.

Expect to pay between £250 and £380 for rooms in Tooting, obviously the cheaper the room is the smaller it'll be and a huge room in a flat/house shared with just one person could be up to £400 or more. Halls are £60/week I think.
