Yes. And despite appearances, as I'm also applying to Durham for 2006 entry, I swear that I'm not stalking you.
I will hopefully be a biomedical sciences graduate from Durham and am predicted a 2.1. I had an offer from GKT for 2003 entry and proceeded to screw up my A-levels.

Hey there,
I will be applying to GKT for 2006 5 yr course. Have spent weeks of deliberation but have decided (almost!) to go for all 5 yr courses as last year I went for all GEPs- had 2 interviews tho was rejected for both.
I just figure there's more of a chance with the 5yr course and it's not so dependent on what score you get in the exams- tho having said that I have a BSc 2.1 and Chem/Bio A-levels so I do have some relative flexibility in choosing a med course i.e. other candidates don't have the right A-levels/degree classification etc.
The bottom line is I want a place at med school for 2006 and choosing all 5yrs is the best strategy I can think of after all rejections last year.
Planning to get application off by this fri and forget about it for a while...
Best of luck!

Hey..
I'm thinking of applying for the 5-year. I thought of the 4 year but I'm already taking the GAMSAT for Swansea and can't be bothered to sit another one.. I Like the chances with the ~20% intake of matures but I'm dubious that this isn't ofset by higher admissions.. Can I ask what specific reasons made anyone apply ?? I live up North; I rarely go anywhere further South than Manchester; and don't particularly like the idea of spending more just to live in London. What reasons would anyone give to try and sell me on Londons benefits?
Thanks.
Rob.
2:1 masters in Chem from Newcastle
Chem/Bio/Phys/Maths a-levels
Applying to Swansea, Sheffield, Hull/York, KCL??

Moi aussi! I thought it might be better (statistically) to apply for a 5-year course. And I like the 5-year better for certain reasons anyway.

5 year courses
I've applied for a mix - 4 year at GKT and Newcastle, but 5 year at Birmingham and Leicester. The 5 year appeals, but the financial situation is more realistic with the 4 year option. Plus as I haven't got a degree theres only GKT and Newcastle will take me on the 4 year option!
I think it's more important to have the right qualities than the course length, and I think if they're impressed the University would offer you the 4 year course anyway (I don't know 100% - but surely it would make sense for them).
GKT - nothing so far
Leicester - nothing so far
Brirmingham - a very nice welcome pack!
Newcastle - nothing so far
MSAT on the 28th at Birmingham travel lodge - the day of fun!

Hey... I'm applying to the 5 year course at Kings, I'm currently at Guy's now doing my last year in Biomed, I just love this campus so much I wanna stay here... so finger's crossed... Taking my GAMSAT in january, and the revision is definitely NOT under way with all the deadlines and stuff looming over me like a cloud! :S
But, good luck to you all, and hopefully we'll all become young budding doctors one day...
King's - 5 years
St. George's = GEP
Leicester - 5 years = unsuccessful
East Anglia - 5 years

There's a lovely view from St. Thomas. Brilliant position from an entertainment perspective.
I still don't know whether to apply there next year. Staying near Soho and Covent garden would be amazing from one perspective, but will make me leave university with debts of near £40,000. Hmm.

You could still apply for GKT, though stay in a different area (let's say giving yourself a nice travelling distance to lectures), and enjoy the entertainment in your spare time! You are very sensible looking at it from a money aspect, as I have seen a lot of medics/dentistry students renting beautiful penthouse-style flats with riverside views not far from London Bridge, whilst clocking up stupid quantities of debt at the end. Or then again, maybe they actually had rich parents

The Great Dover Street apartments (stone's throw away from the main campus) can be rented for first year and then it's up to you to hunt around. There are lots of lovely places (reasonably priced in and around the South-East that do offer easy travel of approx 20 minutes to London Bridge). I used to study Biomedical Science whilst living at home, and discovered that there was a house of King's Physiotherapy students a couple of roads away.
GKT is lovely and yes, I am awfully biased, but do give it a try
No doubt you will accrue some debt, but I'm thinking you would have to do something horrendous to reach £40k (even by London standards), and you already sound very mature
Although in writing that sentence I almost forgot about the increase in tuition fees...ouch.
