    Intercalating.

    Hi,

I was wondering if any of the 4th/5th years on here had intercalated? If so how did you find it? Do you think it was worth it? And how much stats do you actually have to do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I intercalated last year and did the "developmental medicine" module, one of the clinical medicine bsc's. Despite the fact I used to moan about my project on almost a daily basis last year I loved doing my intercalated degree and wouldn't change anything about it. I don't particularly want to go into research but I think an intercalated degree is definetly worth doing (and for more reasons than simply getting a few mtas points). I want to do O&G so the material covered in my specialist course was relevant to that and really interesting. Also i'm now much more likely to look up journals and examine the evidence base for things i'm study whereas I would never have done that before. Also working on your project and writing it up as a paper is a really good learning experience as although I dont want a research career I will probably have to undertake some research in my future career

Everyone always mentions the dreaded stats! you get one hour tutorial and one hour of stats lectures a week, so not a lot at all! and i actually enjoyed stats towards the end and again its really useful to understand all the concepts when youre reading journals.

Also: my intercal year was probably the most fun year of university for me, if youre intercalating with a good group of people (which i was) it's great fun and really enjoyable!
I wanted to be with you alone.
    And talk about the weather.
