well the block next door to me has at least 10 medics in it (out of 48) and my mate has 4 medics out of twelve in hers so i think they do; im just the lone block medic cos i booked to arrive 4 days before the usual move in date, so i guess they may have put me somewhere less medic-y

and good choice ! just hope you end up in Sidlaw/Cheviot or Moorfoot

I'm seriously torturing myself with this decision. Whilst I like the idea of Murano and probably the large flats for the a) space b) more people, I really am not a party every night kind of person! I love going out, etc, but 2 times a week is my limit, not only bc that is all my liver can handle (all though everyone keeps telling me it will adjust, haha) but bc I will be living on like £15 - £20 maximum for "going out/social". I like people but I don't like being woken up at 4am every morning (or really like ever...), and without sounding like a twat I'm kind of intending to do a fair bit of work! I just like sleep, a lot
I can handle a bit of mess, dirty dishes, although I would probably not be able to stop myself from cleaning them up haha. (It's a problem. I like cleaning, or at least, I like things being clean and cleaning is a great procrastination tool! I feel I should keep this to myself when I go!)
Is Cairncross boring/dull? I've heard bad things about that too!
I'm so terrible at decisions hah
Just another question, I was told at the open day there are sports facilities and it's only £35 a year, is that right? Is there a gym? Is there a swimming pool? If not where is the nearest swimming pool, if you know? If so which accomodation is closer.
Thanks so much for all the info by the way guys, it's really useful!!

Well if it's any use i came to uni a quite introverted non-going out kinda guy with the same intentions as you, and ended up being an extrovert who still managed to do work!
Also you dont work (effectively) in halls anyway, as thats what the SL is for haha
and i havent heard anything fun/good about cairncross, so i wouldnt be surprised if thats true!
And yes that is true, cairncross is far closerGlasgow 2nd Year Medic

haha! seriously alot changes at uni, as pretentious as that sounds. Just take it as it comes.
also you dont have to go out all the time at all - i never really go out with my flatmates because unlike other subjects we actually have work to do the next day :P and also cos im not into the whole drinking scene. But i like it cos you've always got people around to talk to and stuff.
Murano is particularly good cos other medics are there as well, and alot of the friends i made on the face book group before coming to uni all lived in murano - and we've been friends since!Last edited by Rex The Red; 23-03-2010 at 08:08 PM.

I'm sure a lot changes, I just don't consider myself to be introverted =P
Thanks for the info. I may well end up putting Murano large flats as my first choice, do you reckon I'm likely to get it?
From what I've read I can't apply until I've firmed Glasgow, and I'm still trying to decide and going to Durham on April 16th so won't be making any decisions until then. Could I just send it off now anyway?
Ta.

If you apply nice and early you should.
I applied around feburary time i think before i confirmed my place or something, i probably wasnt supposed to but it still worked haha.
You may as well, especially if you think you'll be coming to Glasgow anywayGlasgow 2nd Year Medic

I know murano is probably going to be dirty and noisy but my thoughts are: feck it - it'll be good craic. And plus it'll only be for a year, which I suspect will go by very fast.

I'm completeing my application and so far I've got:
1. Queen Margaret.
2. Wolfson Hall ensuite.
3. Wolfson Hall standard
4. Murano Large.
But I'm a bit stuck with 5 and 6. I'm trying to decide between Murano small and Cairncross single (possibly large single). Sorry, for asking so many questions but I can't go to the open day and don't know what is best. Is it likely that if I put down Cairncross I will have to share or is that just a rumour I've heard?
