yeah there are quite a few graduates, i know at least 12 personally and am aware of loads more, and thats only in my cohort (one of three)
Postgrads tend to hang around with other post grads, probably because they probably feel a bit uncomfortable maybe hanging out with 18 year olds all the time!

Queen margaret is definitely nicer looking and has bigger rooms, so if you arent too bothered about missing out constant flat parties and drinking banter then theyre a good bet!

Hey do you recommend the open day is worth going to?

For example, are we able to see round the student accommodation? It's pricey enough for me to fly over from N.Ireland and I'd be missing a few days of school so at the minute I'm thinking of not going.

Do you think I'd miss out on much?

The open day is alright, you get to look around the building but to be honest it's probably not that worth it. The only stuff you'll be worried about is PBL and health checks/Disclosure stuff, which is all explained in your welcome pack and PBL is demonstrated in freshers week!

    So it probably isnt haha

I've been looking at the accomodation but am not sure what would be best. I love the look of the QM Halls but apparently it is really competitive.

I want to meet lots of people and have fun but I am a light sleeper so noise at 4am every morning won't be great for me.
I was also thinking of going self-catered rather than catered. Any ideas which would be best?

Personally I think self-catered is best, basically because you can eat what you want when you want. I know a few people who were in Wolfson in 1st year, catered halls, and they enjoyed it. Because everyone was eating together it helped with getting to know people. I'd still say go for self-catered though.

I stayed in QM halls in first year and I though they were brilliant. You still get to know loads of people even though they are smaller than Murano and although there might not be as many parties going on as at Murano, if you're in the mood for one it won't be very hard to find one. They're also right next to Winton halls and you tend to meet loads of people from there too. They're also a lot nicer than Murano because they were bult quite recently. You also get quite a lot of international students staying there, so get to meet people from all over.

Keep well away from wolfson halls. Seriously not worth it in anyway

Noise is inevitable im afraid, but QM will be more quiet.

    Thanks.

Do 1st year undergraduates get into halls like Winton Drive because it says on the site "not usually of 1st year undergraduates" but we have 6 options, so if I discount Winton Drive and Kelvinhaugh I only have 5 options. :S

When I apply for accommodation will Glasgow try put me in with other medics?

Or is this something I have to specially mention? I've decided I'm gonna apply for Murano large flats .
