I hate to be the one to break this to people but thought it was better than having people (like me) hanging about worrying why they didn't have an interview.
The minimum UKCAT requirement has gone up to 2570 (i.e. 642.5) Anyone with UKCAT under that isn't getting an int. I am absolutely gutted as I only got 2550.
WTF, seriously. That's is all I can say right now.2011 Medicine (conditional!)...and 2010 Ultra runner (<that happened!!!) (:

I'm sorry ): I emailed the admissions woman, cos I was anxious I'd not heard.
It is appalling to raise it from 2400 to 2570 without warning students in advance in my opinion. I was told by someone who does admissions interviews that it wouldn't raise a lot over 2400.2011 Medicine (conditional!)...and 2010 Ultra runner (<that happened!!!) (:

Like I mentioned above I emailed the admissions woman because I was anxious I'd not heard anything yet. Makes sense if there are a lot of people who ahven't heard yet. I emailed and asked if people with under 2570 would be considered at all and she said:
"Unfortunately we are not in a position to consider anymore applicants for interview this year. Only applicants who meet/are predicted to achieve minimum academic requirements and also have a UKCAT total score of 2570 will be invited to attend an interview.
I am currently in the process of writing to the applicants who have not met both these requirements advising them of this. The letter also offers advice should they wish to reapply in the future."
I, personally, think it's a pile of ****. How can they have thousands of people applying, wasting their ucas choice (and money) if they THEN stupidly push the score up so much higher? I have half a mind to complain, but guess it wouldn't accomplish much. It's not thinking of the students one iota.2011 Medicine (conditional!)...and 2010 Ultra runner (<that happened!!!) (:

Well thats medicine out the window for me then. Never before have I regreted turning down my Aberdeen offer as much as I do now. Glasgow was my only choice and applcation, and I have missed out with a total of 2550. I understand there has to be a cut off, but such a big jump?? I too had been told by a Dr who also does admssons for Glasgow that my UKCAT was enough to secure me an interview!
This is just so unfair.St Andrews 1st year medic!

I think its a load of rubbish too personally. I just scraped an interveiw and no more my total was 2590.
As Glasgow is my number 1 choice and appears to be also the only place that I have an interveiw I am actually pretty releived.
I can only say that they must have not anticipated the number of applicants/level of UKCAT scores meaning that they had to change the goal posts whillst its rubbish. I don't think its shady or stupid.
Edit: the massive jump is the main issue
