    Social life at medical school

The only thing that makes me not want to do medicine is the fact that I may not have the chance to enjoy the student experience. Someone please reassure me that that social life and student life is at least better than before university. I know there are more hours and more work but I just want to make sure there is time for living the student life ie. clubbing, drinking, sleeping, going to gigs and different societies etc. Help me!
"How dare you speak of the crunch? You've never ever been to the crunch!"
    "I've been there once."
"Oh yes, we can all go as touists - a little day trip round the crunch. Ooh, that's a bit of crunch."

I think it just depends on the type of person that you are. Lots of people can juggle both the high volume of work and the social life but some people can't. If you are realistic and don't go out every night I think it will be possible to have both. I thought about this when applying but then decided that, when I'm working, I'll work really hard and then when I am socialising I'll not think about it.

Medical students work hard, play hard.

your time at university is what you make it, if you want to have a social life you can and you will!!
You just need to find the balance which is hard for a lot of people.
I'm nearly finished my degree(not medicine) but I do lots of extra curricular things, go out when I want, and still manage to do well in my exams and course work. I know a few medical students who do work hard, not excessively and also have a great social life,so it is possible!!
    good luck
