Everything, pretty much, is on the accommodation web site. Majority will end up in self-catered, and the majority of them at Murano. It's student accommodation, so don't expect much. Huge benefit is that everyone else there is in 1st year too, so you'll easily find friends.

Wolfson rocks!!! if ur a vet.
Atmosphere is great, but the food sucks + takes 2 bus journey to uni.
We do have loads of Ceilidh though, catered for those who like wearing kilt, like the dancing Homer Simpson

after 1st year, is it cheaper to live on or off campus?
i wonder, is there a season for kilts? (from a non-local who finds it hip to use them - though has tried skirts "mostly" on carnivals or halloweens) - i know there is a diff. between a skirt and a kilt, right

i have a feeling what i typed might have came out wrong, i.e. i "mockish".
lots of love. i truly did the style, though Homer can't pull much of it off.
on a serious side, i am still curious about the cost difference of living in a studio/apt. vs on campus.
cheers and tchau tchau.

Don't know, except you'd be pretty pushed to find somewhere you'd want to live as a student that's not on "campus". Glasgow isn't a campus university: like most old universities it's based in a place and the accomodation is actually spread over the west end of the city. I don't actually know where students live out (I've lived in Glasgow almost all my life, in the west end, but never actually been a student there!). To live as close as you would in student accom (say, 20 mins half hour walk) which is probably where most students live, there is a wide range of possible rents, from serious west end to quite cheap areas! But it would depend how far away from other people you wanted to live, and who with; I'd worry about it nearer the time

that's mussed.
i went to college in philadelphia, US, and found the life off campus wonderful, mostly because i love the areas i lived in. i'm not a big fan of public transportation, unless it is pretty safe and convenient - i usually bike to work or walk on inspired days.
i wanted a feeling for living expenses as a person living in a studio, for example (i currently live in a studio downtown where rent goes from 600 to 800 US dollars a month). should i expect the same if i want to live alone in glasgow?
i know i have time, but work just begs for future planing, doesn't it

When you say 'studio' i always think of a film studio or music studio, sounds big and posh lol....i think we just call them houses or flats in the UK.. but yeah, i suppose price wise, i'm expecting more towards the $600 a month mark maybe less (£250/£300) for a rented room in a house in glasgow.. but i could be totally wrong as iv only ever been to glasgow once .. and that was the day of my interview lol!!

It generally becomes cheaper if you've got more people sharing the flat, living on your own might be quite a bit more expensive (I've not looked at 1 beds, so I could be wrong.) Prices also vary greatly depending on where it is. 30 minutes walk from the uni can also cover quite a bit of distance, so plenty of choice.
In 1st year, I really advocate halls if you can get them. It might not be ideal for graduates (depends how fussy you are
) but it's a great way to meet people.

i would recommend sharing a flat to be honest - more people to split the costs. would rent rather than buy though - the west end is definitely not getting cheaper! lol
lots of students stay in Dowanhill, Woodlands, the (nice bit of) Maryhill, Yorkhill places like that - all about 5/10 mins walk from the med school. As a general rule, the further you are from the uni the cheaper it is. Places to live in Hillhead can be mega expensive - but there are a few bargains so just keep an eye open.
you can check out the GSPC listings online and look in the rental section - always loads of places suitable for students: www.gspc.co.uk
some of my friends had real problems with a certain letting agency at the start of second year - ended up moving out of the flat after 2 months it was that bad (names available on request lol) - so make sure you see the place before you sign anything
