would mecial new grads be abused in your country
I have my family in HKG and on the way to send my son to study medicine in UK. I started to worry would I put him to an unleansant career.
Yesterday I came across on TV how the recent growth in the local medcial institutions (not government run, nor NGO) attracting fresh grad medical doctors into contract then press them to over-work in order with very tough productivity standards else they got decucted pay tahter than the contracted pay. These doctors also complained the severe cost controls imposed against their free-will to give patience better medical testing and/or chemicals. ( In Hong Kong, GP also provide drugs for the bundled fees. Different from other countries where patient buy drugs from pharmacy on showing the prescription.) There were also benchmark to these community GPs suppose to have cure the patient in one round (85%).
They feel the conflict to please the employer and being professionally answerable to the society and their professional board.
Just wonder would this be merely a local development in Hong Kong. If it is a world wide trend, I need a second thought should I put my son in such delemma.
Can someone share what happens in your country?

Getting a degree in the UK doesn't necessarily mean that your son will have to practice in the UK.

but how could you not want to work in the Glorious Republic of the NHS? Our only problem is that we're not quite sure who our president is or what our constitution is.
