How do I work as a GP in Canada?

    Hello Everyone,

I am currently finishing up my GP training in Hemel Hempstead and have recently passed my summative assessment exams and have written my exams for entrance into the MRCGP. My fiancee is Canadian and we've been looking into moving to Canada for awhile. I've researched it but its rather confusing on how to get my license to practice in Canada. Can anyone help me with understanding how to go through the steps to practicing as a GP in Canada? Has anyone done this before? Also, are there any specific hoops that need to be completed for different provinces.

    Thank you.
    Reshma

    Hello Manus,

Thank you for your advice. I don't think I ever saw this link before and so I'll check it out. I will defiantely be advised to make certain whether working in a remote area of need is a condition of getting my license to practice. Hopefully not. I will keep searching though. Thank you.

If you do run across any more information than please let me know.
    Cheers.

Its not really a condition of getting ur license to practice, but rather a consequence of being a foreign graduate. I have family that moved to Canda (not from UK, but nonetheless), Married couple - both doctors - and theyre working as GP's now in a little hole in the middle of nowhere, Saskatewan. Fine, maybe its not a hole, but its far enough from any vaguely familiar civilization...

Ps. Yes I got into Hopkins, but no I did not graduate. So, no degree. Why? 1. Finances. 2. Coz I got into medical school, which is what I wanted to do anyway.
