Uni choice affecting FY1/FY2 posting?

Hi,

If I don't make much sense in this, please just say heh! I'm looking at two GEM universities (Nottingham and St Georges in London) and wanted to know my career choices.

Basically, if I choose Nottingham (if I'm lucky enough to get an interview then offer) will my future postings (FY1 onwards) HAVE to be in that region? Or would I be able to apply for jobs elsewhere in the country, say London?

I'm asking as I've heard that students are restricted to their Uni region once they've qualified and I want to know if there is truth in it.

Thanks!!

Not true. With the foundation program you can go anywhere. You apply nationally and rank your choices, depending on your points score and your choices, this decides where you go. Only advantage for applying locally is that you know the hospitals.

There are, of course, over subscribed areas (London being one), but you're not skewed to one part of the country like you were (preferentially at least) before.
