Gap year thoughts/suggestions?!

I have been considering taking a gap year, mainly because should I ever get round to thinking of definitely applying for medicine, I don't have any work experience or anything relating that would help me out on my PS.

I was just wondering, if I don't get anything sorted, would taking a gap year and getting as much as I can in as possible be quite a good idea?

I'm just curious if there's anything anyone here has done for a long time - I'm not just talking about shadowing... a year off of college, and studying - if I was to try and get experience, I don't want to do a few days shadowing someone. I'll do it, I just, don't have that to be my cumulative experience if you get me hehe.

Just wondered if there was anything long term anyone has done - suggestions that will get me thinking =]

Thanks =]

Get a job as an Auxiliary Nurse. Best type of experience you can get.

Is it one where you don't need any previous experience / qualifications to do?

By qualifications I mean, you don't have to have studied something healthcare related?
