views of students on careers in research

I’m doing some background research for the Government on higher education and universities and I’ve got a question.

Some of you may be considering careers in research. Some of you may already be pursuing careers in research.

There seems to be is a perception out there that research careers are not as attractive compared to other possible careers.

Do you think that this is generally true? Are research careers less attractive as, say careers in finance, banking, the media, etc.

Thanks for your time.

any career is more actually most attractive compared to banking finance etc i call it the bore sector, because its monotonous but research could the same too, unless its got lots of people working alongside

Think you need some clarification as to what you are comparing here. Most people on this forum are potentially going to be doctors, some will pursue a career in research in addition to clinical work, others will have no interest in this whatsoever. There are many pros and cons to both these options.
