    gamsat book recommendations?

hi everyone! just wondering if any of you have bought specific gamsat books and whether any of you had some recommendations? im quite tempted by the gold standard one? ive bout the ones off the ucas website as thought they must be pretty trustworthy coming from there.

For the UCAS site, if you mean the 3 official ACER booklets (UCAS bookstore GAMSAT preparation material) then those are a very, very important investment because they give you practice problems and one full length practice test. The gold book gives a full content review in one source and a second full length practice test. That should be enough between now and Sept 17.

ah great!! thanks so much for your help.

I am a little confused...is ACER another exam type similar to the gamsat? I was just wondering why everyone seems to be recommending them as good revision aids?

    thanks

ACER is the organization that administers the GAMSAT. Because they are the source of the real exam, the practice materials they produce compose a critical part of your preparation. They publish 3 booklets: 1 full length practice test and basically 2 separate 1/2 length practice tests.

i bought it, only the book though none of the dvds...out of 10 id give it an 8. its nice to have everything in one book and also knowing which topics may come up. the part i need help with is the physics and although it is very informative i still need to look up stuff further as its not explained to the detail one would expect not having learnt any of this before. i cant speak for the other sections as thats just me revising what i already know.

You said your focus is Physics; the cover of the Gold book says that it comes with some free hours of videos online. Did you also look at the physics videos?

So, yesterday I went along to Waterstones in Gower street, naively thinking that if any place in the country would have GAMSAT books it would there. I was told however that no one has rights to sell GAMSAT books in the UK and that I can by from relevant Internet site. Is this correct? Do they really expect you to shl out £75 on a book without any reviews or being able to see it first? If so this is madness to me.

Hey, I bought the book a few weeks ago and find it quite useful as it has a full list of topics you can think of as a 'syllabus', however coming from a non-science background (only A level Biology equivalent, GCSE physics & chem) I'm finding that it doesn't go into enough detail for me, so I'm using the dummies books and then referring to the Gold Standard to see whats relevent. It also says in the book that theres free chapter review questions online but i can't seem to find them??
