Too early IMO. However, starting now and sitting in March is a plan. You could save yourself 6 month of studying and know beforehand your chances of being accepted by a GAMSAT uni before applying. If you don't do as well as you like, sit in Sept as well.
    2011 Applications:
    Warwick (GEP) - Acknowledged
    King's (GPEP) - Acknowledged
    SGUL (GEP) - Acknowledged
    Peninsula (5 year) - Acknowledged

    UKCAT: 732.5
    GAMSAT: 72 (67, 69, 76)

    2010 Applications:
    Warwick: Interview - Rejected
    Bart's 5 year: Withdrew
King's GPEP: Offer for 5 year (declined)
Cardiff 5 year: Interviewed - Rejected

It's never too early! Remember though, there's only 3 official practise question books, so don't do all of them at this early stage. I'd recommend using one of the books (not the test) to focus your prep, you can always do the questions again at a later stage.
I didn't have the money to spare to buy an expensive study guide, so used the griffiths gamsat guide, chemistry and organic chemistry for dummies and whatever i could find in the library. I also had some notes from a friend who went one one the ridiculously priced prep courses (£1000 +), i can't say i found them too helpful, but the practise papers they gave were useful in practising further gamsat questions.
If you've got the spare cash and there's still time to register, i'd recommend doing the gamsat in March, as, worst case you've had a mock test, and will feel more confident in September, best case you will get a great mark and won't have to sit it again in Septemer
