Gamsat Dublin?

Hello, just wondering if anyone in Dublin is sitting Gamsat this autumn and how are you preparing. I have not started studying (not yet but will, just stuck on what study material to use. Thinking of using first year undergrad texts for the sciences but not sure about the humanities though.

Yeah I'm gonna be doing the gamsat in sept as well, from dublin too. I'm in the middle of a science degree so I'll be using my texts from first year. I got the Des O'Neill notes as well, hopefully they'll be helpful for it all! I've heard for the humanitites its best to read up on lots of different kinds of texts and just to keep practising essays yourself until you get into the swing of it. Are you from a science background yourself? I'm doing neuro. The science looks grand apart from the org chem looks like a lotta work! I've started studying a bit over the last couple of wks but am going to start studying properly now! I got a few sample papers as well I'd recommend them to help with the timing, which seems to be the main barrier to doing well in the exam!

I'm also from Dublin and will be travelling to the UK to sit GAMSAT this Sept. Have flights booked too so hopefully I get the centre that I applied for!

I haven't got much time for preparation as I'm doing a Masters so trying to get in an hour a day (on days that I have an hr to spare that is). Working through some of the science stuff from sample papers and trying to do some preparation for Sections 1 & 2 by reading, taking notes etc. I need to up the pace and amount of study that I do and actually get through the science stuff too.

Hey Guys,

Great to know there are other med hopefuls out there. Currently studying Chemistry in DCU, final year with exams in Aug due to illness in my Jan exams. So that means i have to study twice
Anyway, i am still awaiting papers from Des O'neill as i need a lot of practice on essay writing because i just get worse as i don't do a lot of writing in Chemistry. I think for the Organic Chemistry you need to a lot of practise, but for me it is the physics i may have a problem with.

Yep I'm sitting Gamsat in September as well..from a humanities background. Haven't done science in 8 years, trying to get through the organic chemistry at the minute! any advice or tips would be appreciated Currently using Gradmed notes and organic chem for dummies. Good luck with the study!

Yeah, the group is getting larger that's good. Zep i think your gradmed notes are very good from what i heard. I am still waiting for my study materials to come. I guess since you are from humanities your essay writing skills are pretty sharp so that is one less to worry about for you.

I reckon I'll need all the materials I have at the moment for next March too.

I haven't had much time to study for it over the last yr so when my Masters is finished in September I will be able to study full time.

I already gave it a bash in March and I'm going to give it a bash in the UK next month too. It's section 3 that I need to work on. Pretty much learning it all from scratch but I'm determined to get in so even if it takes me another 2yrs, I don't mind!!!
