distance learning courses?

I'm thinking of doing some sort of short pre-med type course during my final year next year to show commitment and preparation on my application for GEP, but I don't know how useful it'll be. If it will dunno exactly what kinda thing they'd look for.

Did any of you take distance learning courses to backup your application to medicine?

Basically it all depends on what A-levels you already have, what your degree is in and what experience you have.
