    Preparing for GAMSAT 2009

Hi guys I'm planning to take the GAMSAT next year (2009) and have a few questions to ask.

    1) How long do i need to start preparing for the GAMSAT?
I'm currently in my 2nd year of studies in Australia doing biomedical science and am hoping to prepare full time during summer which is 3 months long.

    2) I am rather concerned about the physics section, i've never done well in physics and would like to know would it be as hard as A level standards?? i mean, thats pretty hard is the Gamsat was designed with non science background applicants in mind too?

    3) Is it any use joining one of those Prepmed courses / ace Gamsat courses out there or am i off better studying by myself?

    4) For the essay component, is it done during a stupulated time under exam conditions or do we know the topics beforehand and can write it at leisure as long as it's handed up by the due date?

Im sorry, i know im asking many simple questions. Any help/infomation is much appreciated!

    Hi Raralara,

Ignore yoyo' he/she will eventually get bored and go away...

Please note, I can only discuss GAMSAT in the UK, although I think I’m right in stating that it should be the same in Australia (where it originated). GAMSAT is a hard exam - read through the GAMSAT section of this website, particularly my ‘are we made to do it' thread. You're doing biochem, which should mean that biology and chemistry won’t be a problem for you.

The physics section is very small (5% I think). I’m going through ‘A’ Level Physics (the standard here) and it’s not too bad – get your maths sorted out first though. However, if you are studying biochem, you should be used to maths in the chemistry sections. Just do the best you can in physics and answer those questions that you feel comfortable with and then do a ‘best guess fit’ for the others.

    Good luck,

    N2D
